Children
Jesus said, "let the little children come unto me, and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of heaven." (Matt. 19:14) At St. Barnabas parish, we celebrate and are hugely protective of children and their families.
Children's ministry
Services
Children of all ages are welcome in all of our services. The creativity and inquisitiveness that leads to "disruptiveness" is not an obstacle for Jesus, and so we don't allow it to become one for ourselves. Habits are formed through osmosis, cultivated by the Holy Spirit, from a young age, and so we enthusiastically welcome Christ's littlest disciples into our midst.
Catechesis
As a parish in development, our effort from day one has been to engage our children with the Word of God, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the inspiring stories of the saints.

Our children love to play together around our gatherings, and share in the celebrations of the church's feasts. Our pastor works with families to prepare children for First Communion and Confirmation (by the laying on of hands) to bless and strengthen them as they take on the responsibility for themselves of living as Christians.
Child Care
As a young parish, we are not yet at volunteer capacity to offer a staffed nursery. We are under strict diocesan and provincial child protection policies that require stringent oversight, and rightly so to protect our little ones. We will be adding to and enhancing this area of ministry as we develop, but most of us are young families ourselves. We are one hundred and fifty precent supportive of young parents and their children.
